Luck of the Devil by Lark Taylor (The Reckless Damned #4)

Title: ⟫ Luck of the Devil

Author: ⟫ Lark Taylor

Rating: ⟫ 4/5

Blurb:One demon. One angel. A relationship that’s failed so many times. Could it really be just one human they’ve been missing?

Dagon

For centuries, Dimitri and I have tried to make it work. Each time we’ve been torn apart by our dominant natures, neither of us willing to back down. A hundred years ago, I thought he’d betrayed me in the worst possible way. In a fit of anger, we made a deal that led to my downfall.

Now Dimitri is back in my life, reshaping our history with the truth. But love still isn’t enough to make it work, not when being together tears us apart.

When he tells me he’s met our human mate, I can’t help but hope that Lucky will be the key to loving Dimitri the way I’ve always wanted.

But with Hell knocking at our door and an uprising threatening us all, can we persuade Lucky to give us a chance before it’s too late?

Dimitri

I haven’t given up on Dagon for one hundred years, and I won’t now.

When Lucky crosses my path, I finally understand why Dagon and I have never quite worked. Fate never intended us to be a couple…we were destined to be a triad. Lucky is the piece we need to complete us.

Winning Lucky over won’t be easy. Someone is hurting him, making him put up walls that are nearly impossible for us to cross.

But chasing Dagon has taught me that I’m a stubborn angel. I won’t give up on either of my mates.

Lucky

What an ironic nickname. Never in my life has anything lucky ever happened to me.

But everything changes when I meet Dagon and Dimitri. Two super-hot guys who aren’t put off by my in

experience? All my dreams are coming true.

Not for long though. Even with my boss and his family looking out for me, I know it’s only a matter of time before my past catches up to me.

So, for no

w, I’m going to soak up every drop of happiness Dimitri and Dagon have to offer.

Drink it up and pray they forgive me when I do what I always do.

Run…and don’t look back.

Luck of the Devil is an action-filled, fated-mates MMM paranormal romance with an HEA and no cliff-hanger. It is the final instalment in The Reckless Damned series, which is best enjoyed in order due to the overarching plot. Each book focuses on a different couple or triad and has an HEA.

Review: ⟫ Well, the Reckless Damned series has come to an end and it did it in explosive fashion. Dagon and Dimitri have been teased from the sidelines throughout the previous books and now the focus is well and truly on them. We find out just what is going on with them in terms of being mates, and discover that Lucky – the bartender – is the missing link that could make their lives complete.

There’s just a small matter of a demon uprising, Lucifer making his move, and a big bunch of angels to handle before the three of them can settle down to their HEA. We get big cameos from the previous couples and a satisfying end for Dagon and Dimitri, as well as the humans showing that although they don’t have superpowers, they can look after themselves.

We also get a few teasers for potential spin-offs which were interesting but not intrusive, so all in all, a good ending to the series.

Devil May Care by Lark Taylor (The Reckless Damned #2)

Title: ⟫ Devil May Care

Author: ⟫ Lark Taylor

Rating: ⟫ 5/5

Blurb: One life-altering kiss sets our whole world on fire.

Harlow

I’ll tell you what isn’t on my agenda for this century: finding my fated mate only to have him reject me.

In fact, having a mate and tying myself down for eternity isn’t even a blip on my radar. But the moment I meet Bailey, there’s no denying he’s meant to be mine. Everything about the gentle Welsh giant calls to me, consuming my thoughts.

The problem? He doesn’t feel the same way. One life-altering kiss has him running in the other direction, leaving me to watch over him from the shadows.
When the opportunity arises to build a friendship, I grab it with both hands. Surely being his friend is better than nothing, right?

It will have to be, especially with a clan of mages sniffing around and looking for trouble. Not unusual since I am an estranged son of Lucifer. But now that I have my mate to consider, things are a lot more serious. How can I truly protect Bailey when he doesn’t even know I’m a demon?

Bailey

I learned a long time ago that relationships aren’t for me. Nobody wants to commit to a bigger guy, especially one who craves a different role in the bedroom.

When Harlow sashays into my life, I can’t help but wish things could be different. Sure, he seems interested, but history has proven that eventually, everyone leaves me.

There’s no way a vibrant firecracker like Harlow wants to be anything more than friends.

But the closer we get, the harder it is to keep him at arm’s length. He tells me he wants a relationship, but how can I believe him when I know he’s hiding something from me?

Devil May Care is an exciting, high-heat, friends-to-lovers paranormal romance with a guaranteed HEA. It is the second book in The Reckless Damned series, and although it can be read as a standalone, more enjoyment would be gained from reading the series in order. Each book focuses on a different couple and will have an HEA.

Review: I have been waiting with baited breath for Harlow’s story ever since he was introduced in the first one, and this did not disappoint at all.

Bailey broke my heart for so many reasons, but the obvious one is the mask he wears every single day – the mask that hides his insecurities and doubts, his fear of never being loved enough for someone to stay; his fear that his ex was right – they touched so many of my own insecurities it was difficult to read sometimes.

And we learned so much more about Harlow – how the slightly insane, out of control, full throttle demon could pull back and just – be. The side of himself that he showed to Bailey was so different to what we had seen in the previous book, it almost felt like a privilege or that we were peeking in through a window.

Obviously, the sex was insanely hot and slightly kinky. Actually, skip the slightly kinky part – I just remembered a scene with wings and falling that made me gasp!

But this story was so much more than that. It was a true friends to lovers story, with Harlow and Bailey growing closer slowly, learning about each other and realising that they were friends and it wasn’t just about the demon mark.

It was fabulous to catch up with Cal and Oscar again, and yes, I might just be champing at the bit to find out just what went on between Dagon and Dimitri. I giggled a few times with how Dimitri reacted to Dagon being in danger – the imagery was absolutely spot on! And can I just say, I would dearly love to see the inspiration for Ferry because hot damn!

I have to read this story again because I may have missed out on important plot details in my rush to see just how Bailey and Harlow were going to get their well-deserved HEA – the witches and ghasts were intriguing and the possibilities of what exactly are going on have my brain working overtime. But ultimately, what I truly loved about this story was the relationship between Harlow and Bailey – from the size-difference between them, the way they brought out the best/worst in each other, how protective they were of each other – it was just so so lovely!

I received an ARC from the author.

Devil's Mark by Lark Taylor (The Reckless Damned #1)

Title:
⟫ Devil’s Mark (The Reckless Damned #1)
Author: ⟫ Lark Taylor
Blurb: ⟫ Cal and his brothers turned their backs on the family business over a hundred years ago – but Hell is tired of waiting for them to return.

Cal

I’ve never wanted a relationship – especially not with a human. With my father demanding my return to Hell and a demon leaving dead bodies in my bookshop, now is not the time to be losing my heart. But one look in Oscar’s broken eyes and I know I’m in trouble. Oscar’s been hurt before and everything in me is screaming to keep him safe. How can I do that when I know being with me will only put him in more danger?

More importantly though, am I strong enough to walk away from him?

Oscar

After escaping my last relationship with broken bones and an anxiety disorder, I’m tired of living half a life. My world revolves around my classroom, flat, and best friend. When fate throws Cal in my path, he seems too good to be true. Not only does he look like he’s been pulled from my fantasies, but my baggage doesn’t scare him. OK, so there’s the tiny issue of him being a demon, but I’ve dealt with far scarier.

I’ve been broken once before, and I don’t think I’d survive it again. Can I pull down my barriers enough to let Cal in?

‘Devil’s Mark’ is a thrilling high heat, hurt/comfort, M/M contemporary paranormal romance with a HEA and no cliff-hanger. It features a possessive demon and the broken teacher who captures his heart. ‘Devil’s Mark’ is the first in The Reckless Damned series but can be read as a stand-alone. Each book focuses on a different couple and will have a HEA.

Trigger warning for emotional abuse and domestic violence in a previous relationship, anxiety attacks, and descriptions of violence.

Review: ⟫ Well this one made me feel like my reading slump was over and I was extremely surprised when reading the dedications at the back to discover this was the first book published by this author!

The premise sounded like one I would enjoy so I dived in and discovered a whole new world in a place I already slightly know. My brother used to live in Southampton so some of the places described were familiar to me. But wow, just thinking that the likes of Cal, Mori and Harlow might be hanging around there makes me wish my brother was still there.

The story was a ride and a half, with twists and turns, witty banter and seriously hot sex. I loved it – the time reading it flew by as I dived into a world where Lucifer’s sons are kicking about in Southampton, running nightclubs and bookshops, wearing hot-pants and falling in love.

Very well written, with a tight plot, good depth in the world building without feeling like an info-dump, this book was a delight to read and I am very much looking forward to reading more. 4.5/5 happily rounded up to 5 – definitely recommend giving this one a try.

I received an ARC from GRR.
